Our Lady of Mt Carmel: Celebrate!

It’s been a big week for us. We’re away from home enjoying a fun-filled, action packed time with my parents (Abeea and Papateaux). It’s been so good to be here soaking up family time and making memories.

And honestly when, in the middle of the morning, I remembered that today was a celebration day I thought, “phew! I feel celebrationed out!” We may have over-celebrated St. Kateri’s feast day. But what a celebration it was!

But by the time evening rolled around the opportunity presented itself. The coloring pages were printed, and after dinner (between innings of the Red Sox game) we enjoyed our sundaes.

The children began coloring the pages and asked who Our Lady of Mt. Carmel was. I began to explain and then read the story I posted about Carmel and the Carmelites. JStar has picked St. John of the Cross as his namesake and was delighted to hear he was a Carmelite.

I read the prayer of St. Simon Stock aloud. Abeea had picked up a little foam globe ball for Teddy, so we looked at the Mediterranean and tried to pick out where Mt. Carmel is. Then we scattered for bedtime routine.

At night prayer JStar asked me to read the story again. And they joined me in the prayer this time. Our celebration today wasn’t as thorough as I’d imagine, but it turned out to be a sweet time learning about a new name of Out Lady!

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, pray for us!
