Saturday happened in a big way in our house. The transfiguration falling on a Saturday this year meant it didn’t turn out as I thought it would. I imagined we’d get to celebrate as a family with dad being home to join us. I imagined we’d have a lazy afternoon to read, color, craft, pray and feast.
Instead, it was family time! It was Saturday to the max. It was daddy home, with no work on his plate. It was getting housework done, relaxing, going out for snow cones. It was a birthday party, pool time and grilling burgers. It would have disrupted the much needed leisure of our Saturday to orchestrate the celebration. And that wouldn’t have been simple or bring too much joy.
Did you celebrate this one? If not, no sweat. As always the first step is to pick and choose which are important to you and your family. Just because I write these plans up, doesn’t mean I celebrate them all myself. Notice, there was no celebration post for Sts. Joachim and Anne either.
If you did celebrate please share! I’d love to see how it looked for your family.
In the meantime don’t forget…St. Clare’s feast day is this week! (Thursdsay the 11th).
