Saturday happened in a big way in our house. The transfiguration falling on a Saturday this year meant it didn't turn out as I thought it would. I imagined we'd get to celebrate as a family with dad being home to join us. I imagined we'd have a lazy afternoon to read, color, craft, pray and … Continue reading Transfiguration–Celebrate!…or not

Celebrate! St. John Vianney
You guys. I did something silly. I got the dates mixed up for this feast day. Mixing up dates is one of my specialties. This time it was a happy accident, though, because it means I can share our celebration a little early. And Fr. Troy may get his cards sooner than four days late. Sending … Continue reading Celebrate! St. John Vianney

August 6: Transfiguration–Prepare!
Tomorrow is the Feast of the Transfiguration! this day is about the revelation of Christ's divinity. It is proof of his sonship to the Father. It is all of the history of the chosen people of God displayed in one moment at the top of a mountain. It is about Christ's light, stepping into that light, knowing it is good, and having no fear.

July 26th: Saints Joachim and Anne–Prepare!
Saints Joachim and Anne July 26th marks the feast day of the parents of Mary, Saints Joachim and Anne. They are the grandparents, then, of Jesus. July 16th: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel–Prepare!
Mary, Our Lady, the Blessed Mother, Mother Mary, Queen of Angels, Queen of Heaven. The names by which we call the mother of our Lord are many, and many are the devotions to her. I thought I'd highlight one of the many in our first month of this series. July 16th happens to be the feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. For those enrolled in the confraternity of the brown scapular this day is a wonderful one to commemorate as a family. For those who are not, this day offers another peek into the great care Our Lady takes of us as Mother of the Church.
